Local business cleans up at Master Painters Awards of Excellence 2015
It was a great night at the MPA Awards for local business, Volantes Decorating Service, taking out the prestigious Project of the Year 2015 at last Saturday night’s Master Painters Association Awards of Excellence for the second year in a row.
Seaforth based, John Volante and his team received the prestigious Project of the Year 2015 Award in recognition of their outstanding work on the beautiful Federation period home in Cremorne.
“We loved delivering this project. It is a beautiful building and we wanted to respect the heritage architecture, while at the same time providing a contemporary feel.”
For this project, it was more than just picking the right colours; it was also about treating and restoring the finishes.
“We started with the original 90 year old windows, eaves, rafter ends and soffits, which were sanded back to remove over 20 years of failed paint coatings and systems. Then, we began the work on restoring these details to accentuate beauty. We used oil based undercoat, putty, high gloss enamel combined with tactical sanding to ensure the best finish. The result was a beautifully finished harbour side home, which respects it original period of architecture.
“I am honoured that we have received the award again this year. I am proud of the finished project, which is high quality, respects the history and delivers a contemporary finish, which was the brief from the client. This award is a great recognition of the hard work that the team do to deliver this level of quality.”
It was quite a night for the team. As well as winning Project of the Year 2015, Volantes Decorating also won Best Residential Repainting Project 2015, Best Commercial New Work 2015 and Best Residential Heritage and Restoration Project 2015.
Therese Lauriola, Master Painters CEO said that “The awards were very competitive during 2015, particularly the residential section. It was the detailed restoration work and exquisite finishes that impressed the Judges.”
The Master Painters Awards for Excellence recognise quality craftsmanship and excellence in the painting and decorating industry.
